Where to Stay in Bogotá, Colombia?
Bogotá is a large city with a variety of hotels, but not all neighborhoods in the destination are recommended for staying.
Some areas of Bogotá are unsafe for tourists, especially at night. Other neighborhoods are too far from the main attractions, and given the city’s chaotic traffic, they become impractical.
The modern Chapinero district, which includes the Parque de la 93 area, Zona Rosa, Zona T, Zona G, and the historic neighborhood of La Candelaria are the best places to stay in Bogotá. Below, we explain the advantages and disadvantages of each area, along with a selection of the best hotels.
1. Chapinero: Bohemian and Safe Area
The most popular place to stay in Bogotá is Chapinero. It’s a beautiful, safe region with many leisure options, including bars, cafés, nightclubs, award-winning restaurants, parks, and charming, elegant streets.
The district of Chapinero is fairly sizable. As a result, it has a number of excellent lodging options that suit various kinds of tourists.
The main areas to stay in Chapinero, Bogotá, are:
- Parque de la 93: A safe, exclusive, and elegant residential area.
- Zona Rosa and Zona T: A party district with the best bars and nightclubs in Bogotá. Zona Rosa includes Zona T, known for its two most vibrant streets.
- Zona G: Known for its gastronomy, this area is home to some of the most sophisticated restaurants and bars in Bogotá. It is also the city’s financial center, making it an exceptional choice for business trips.
Chapinero offers hotels and attractions for all types of travelers. Below, we provide a more detailed overview of each recommended area within Chapinero.
Suggested accommodations in Chapinero:
- Salvio Parque 93: A beautiful and modern hotel with large rooms offering city views, located in front of Parque de la 93 in Chapinero.
- Sofitel Bogotá Victoria Regia: A luxurious hotel with city views, located in the Zona Rosa of Chapinero.
- Casa Legado: Located in Chapinero’s Zona G, this quaint hotel features bright rooms, tasteful décor, and free bicycle rentals.
2. Parque de la 93: Best Place to Stay in Bogotá
Parque de la 93 is located in the Chicó neighborhood, one of the safest and most exclusive areas of Bogotá.
Our favorite place to stay in Bogotá is here. Only a 20-minute walk from Zona Rosa, the neighborhood is tidy, safe, and charming. It has cozy hotels and a wide range of eateries and bars. This implies that you can return to the peace, elegance, and security of Parque de la 93 while still taking advantage of the nightlife in Zona Rosa.
Despite being a quieter area, Chicó still has lively bars and rooftops. Being a residential neighborhood, the establishments are frequented more by locals than by tourists.
Locals love to stroll, enjoy the sun, and unwind at Parque de la 93.
The biggest downside of this neighborhood is that it’s quite far from La Candelaria. Depending on traffic, the trip can take about 1 hour. Additionally, this is a more expensive neighborhood compared to other areas.
Suggested accommodations in Parque de la 93:
- Salvio Parque 93: A beautiful and modern hotel with large rooms offering city views, located in front of Parque de la 93.
- Windsor House: A classic hotel with simple and functional accommodations, located 3 blocks from Parque de la 93. This hotel is reasonably priced.
- Hotel El Dorado: A hotel with cheerful and cozy decor, complete and comfortable rooms, two restaurants, a bar, a gym, and located 400 meters from Parque de la 93.
- Hotel 93 Luxury Suites: Located one block from Parque de la 93, this hotel offers elegant, bright, and well-equipped apartments with a full kitchen, comfortable beds, and city views.

3. Zona Rosa and Zona T: Best Areas for Nightlife
For those who enjoy parties and nightlife, Zona Rosa is the best place to stay in Bogotá.
In Chapinero, Zona Rosa is situated close to Carrera 15 and Calle 85. This area is packed with bars, rooftops, shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. The neighborhood is tidy, secure, and appealing.
Within Zona Rosa lies Zona T, an area formed by two streets in a “T” shape: Carrera 12A and Calle 83. This is the most popular part of Zona Rosa, a pedestrian-only area where most of the bars, restaurants, and luxury stores are located.
Zona Rosa offers all the services a tourist might need. It is close to Zona G and Parque de la 93, making it a safe area with excellent hotels. However, if you prefer quieter environments, Zona Rosa might not be the best choice. The area can be quite noisy, especially at night.
Suggested accommodations in Zona Rosa and Zona T:
- Sofitel Bogotá Victoria Regia: A luxurious hotel with city views, located 2 blocks from Zona T.
- Four Seasons Hotel: A luxury hotel in a beautiful building, offering rooms with balconies and city views. Located one block from Zona T, it offers splendid service, comfortable beds, and all necessary amenities.
- Saint Simon: A simple yet complete hotel located one block from Zona T. It features spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and all necessary amenities.

4. Zona G: Best Area to Explore Gastronomy
For fans of haute cuisine, Zona G is the perfect place to stay in Bogotá. Also located in Chapinero, Zona G is situated between Calle 72 and Carrera 4.
This area is home to many national and international cuisine restaurants led by renowned chefs. Zona G is safe, elegant, and sophisticated, and it is quieter than Zona Rosa. It’s the ideal place for those seeking a calm environment with excellent dining and hotel options.
If you want to enjoy a night out, Zona Rosa is just a short distance away. This is the area we most recommend for business travelers.
Due to its sophistication, Zona G is a more expensive area to stay in Bogotá. On weekends, the area also tends to get quite crowded.
Suggested accommodations in Zona G:
- Casa Legado: A lovely hotel with free bicycle rentals, tasteful décor, and light-filled rooms.
- Hotel Rosales Plaza: A budget-friendly, stylish hotel. It offers amazing service, spacious and comfortable rooms, and a prime location near the main bars and restaurants in Zona G.
- Hilton Bogotá: A hotel featuring luxurious furnishings, full-service amenities, and rooms with breathtaking city views.
- Mercure Bogotá BH: An affordable hotel with simple, comfortable, and functional accommodations. Both the location and the breakfast are excellent.
- Mika Suítes: An inexpensive hotel with cozy accommodations, views of the city, and a satisfying breakfast.
5. La Candelaria: Best Area for Sightseeing
The historic neighborhood of La Candelaria has a vibrant, bohemian vibe. The neighborhood is well-liked by college students because it has fantastic restaurants and reasonably priced, entertaining bars.
This is Bogotá’s Historic Center, home to many of the city’s main tourist attractions, including museums, churches, and historic buildings. Most tours, such as free walking tours, graffiti tours, food tours, bike tours, and scooter tours, depart from this area.
La Candelaria is an incredible choice for lodging in Bogotá for travelers with limited time or money. The neighborhood offers a wide variety of activities and features budget-friendly hotels and hostels.
Even though La Candelaria is a lovely, genuine, and historically significant neighborhood, we feel that it can be a little dangerous, particularly at night.
Suggested accommodations in La Candelaria:
- The Orchids: A hotel with striking décor and cozy spaces, located in the heart of La Candelaria. It provides a satisfying breakfast and is lovely.
- Hotel De La Opera: A hotel featuring a pool, a charming courtyard, and comfortable rooms. The hotel has two restaurants, a bar, a gym, a spa, and serves an excellent breakfast.
