It all comes down to the kind of area or accommodation you’re looking for in Búzios.

Below, I break down the best neighborhoods to stay in Búzios, sharing what I love (and what I don’t love) about each one. I’ve also included my favorite places to stay to help you choose the perfect base for your trip.

1. João Fernandes: The best place to stay in Búzios

Crystal-clear waters of Joao Fernandes beach in Búzios, a prime location for travelers pondering where to stay in Búzios, featuring gently rocking boats and swimmers enjoying the tranquil sea, with a picturesque hillside in the background.

The best area to stay in Búzios is João Fernandes. This neighborhood offers excellent infrastructure, with a wide variety of beachfront hotels, boutique guesthouses, and restaurants.

The beach itself is gorgeous and great for both swimming and water sports. It’s one of my favorite places in Búzios thanks to its mix of natural beauty, convenience, and high-quality accommodations.

If you’re staying in this area, don’t miss João Fernandinho Beach, just a short walk away. It’s even quieter and more laid-back, making it perfect for a relaxing beach day.

Getting around João Fernandes is easy; you can take the local vans that run between the beaches or use Uber and taxis. If you prefer more convenience and flexibility, renting a car is the best option.

Hotels in João Fernandes average around USD 120 per night, but during peak season, prices can climb above USD 200.

What I Love About João Fernandes – It’s one of the most well-rounded areas in Búzios, with great tourist infrastructure, calm and crystal-clear waters, and easy access to the town center. It’s also close to João Fernandinho Beach and has excellent accommodation options with beautiful ocean views.

What I Don’t Love About João Fernandes – The area is a bit hilly, with some gentle climbs to reach certain hotels and guesthouses. While the views are stunning, it might not be the best option for travelers with limited mobility or anyone who prefers flatter areas.

Who João Fernandes Is Perfect For – It’s an ideal choice for families and couples looking for a great location, a peaceful beach atmosphere, and scenic, ocean-view accommodations.

If you want to be right in the middle of all the action, Downtown is hands down the best place to stay in Búzios. This area is the city’s social and commercial hub, filled with nightlife, boutique and souvenir shops, great restaurants, lively bars, and even bank branches for added convenience.

Staying downtown puts you just steps from Rua das Pedras and Orla Bardot, the most iconic and lively areas in Búzios. It’s also one of the best-value neighborhoods in town, with plenty of budget-friendly guesthouses in prime locations.

Now let’s explore one of the liveliest areas to stay in Búzios. Welcome to Geribá. Known for its vibrant daytime atmosphere, Geribá is filled with hotels and guesthouses that offer excellent amenities. While the beach is buzzing with activity during the day, the nightlife here is relatively quiet compared to the town center.
