Each area has a special feature, so you can choose where to stay in Búzios based on what you’re looking for in the destination.
1. João Fernandes – the best place to stay
The best place to stay in Búzios is João Fernandes, thanks to its excellent infrastructure featuring a wide range of hotels, inns, and restaurants. Praia de João Fernandes (João Fernandes Beach) is stunning, with calm, clear waters where you can rent equipment for diving or engaging in other water sports. You can even explore Praia de João Fernandinho (João Fernandinho Beach), just a few steps away from João Fernandes Beach.
Between the beaches of João Fernandes and João Fernandinho, you can enjoy a baptism dive, a must-try attraction in Búzios. The area is also highly sought after by families and couples looking for accommodation due to its proximity to the city center and other Búzios beaches.
The drawback is that the area doesn’t have flat terrain, so you’ll always need to climb a small hill, especially when accessing your accommodations. However, the area is very peaceful, and most hotels and inns offer a sea view.

In this area, you’ll find a large part of the buzz and hustle of Búzios’ nights. There are plenty of designer and souvenir shops, restaurants, and banks to cater to all your needs during your trip.
When staying in the downtown area, you’ll be close to Stone Street and Orla Bardot, two of Búzios’ main tourist attractions. Additionally, this region offers more budget-friendly accommodations with a wide range of hotels and inns.
The nearest beach to Downtown Búzios is Praia da Armação (Armação Beach), which is not suitable for swimming. However, nearby, you’ll find Praia do Canto (Canto Beach), Ossos Beach, and the beaches of Azeda and Azedinha.
Due to its lively atmosphere, Downtown Búzios is not recommended for those seeking tranquility, as the area is filled with many bars and nightclubs. In this case, we recommend that you stay in another part of the city, which we recommend below.

The Geribá Beach stretches for 2 kilometers and tends to get crowded during the high season. Moreover, it has cool water with waves, making it ideal for water sports. Along the beachfront, you’ll find some restaurants and kiosks offering tables and chairs on the sand.
Geribá Beach is easily accessible, just a 10-minute drive from Stone Street, and it’s located near Ferradurinha Beach, one of our favorite beaches in the area. It’s ideal to have a car when staying here, as it allows you to move around easily to other regions and tourist attractions in Búzios.

Manguinhos Beach is not the most recommended for swimming in Búzios, as there are more suitable beaches for that purpose in the region. However, it’s common to engage in various water sports in this area.
In Manguinhos, you’ll find Porto da Barra, a gastronomic complex filled with bars, restaurants, shops, and cafes for you to make the most of your trip. Moreover, from this spot, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing in Búzios.
