Tips for booking accommodations in Mendoza in July:

  • July marks the beginning of the high season in Mendoza. The influx of tourists starts to pick up again, which leads to higher prices for accommodations, tours, and even restaurants. Therefore, I recommend that you book your hotel well in advance to secure your stay and potentially lock in better rates.
  • Be cautious of scams, as the rate of scams involving accommodations booked outside official platforms is quite high in Mendoza. Therefore, prefer to make your reservation on official platforms such as Booking, Hotels.com, and Airbnb.
  • Avoid making any upfront payments outside of the chosen platform, even if a property requests it.
  • Carefully read the reviews and check the location before booking any accommodations.
  • If you’re unsure where to stay in Mendoza, in the city center, I suggest hotels near the main squares (Independencia, Italia, San Martín, Chile, and España) or Calle Aristides, a good area for those who enjoy nightlife.
  • If you prefer the wine regions, the best options are the wine hotels in Mendoza, which offer a complete immersion experience with lots of comfort, safety, and beautiful landscapes. In the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo, there are excellent wine hotels.

6. What to bring to Mendoza in July

A woman sits on a park bench between colorful cartoon statues in Mendoza, Argentina. On her left is a statue of a young boy with a large hairstyle and oversized shoes, and on her right, a girl with long black hair in a blue dress. Both statues appear cheerful and are styled to look like children's book characters, adding a whimsical touch to the urban setting.

For your July trip to Mendoza, it’s wise to pack a mix of warm clothes along with some lighter items for milder days.

I recommend that you pack clothes suitable for temperatures ranging from 3 °C (37 °F) to over 14 °C (57 °F). In July, accessories like scarves, boots, thermal underwear, and a winter coat are highly advisable for added comfort.

So, pack your suitcase with warm clothes, and don’t forget to bring cozy pants, knits, sweatshirts, and a jacket that can handle the cold. Below, find the essential items for your travel bag to Mendoza in July.

  • Sunscreen: Despite the dropping temperatures, sunscreen is always essential for skin health and protection.
  • Cold weather clothing: Temperatures in July are already low, especially at night. So, pack cozy pants, wool items, knits, sweatshirts, jackets, and sweaters. Don’t forget to include options for potentially colder days.
  • Thermals: A highly recommended item for July, especially if you don’t have gear for a more intense cold.
  • Accessories: If you tend to feel very cold, consider bringing a scarf, tights, or a beanie.
  • Lip and body moisturizer: Don’t forget facial, body, and lip moisturizers, as they are essential for keeping our skin and lips well-hydrated.
  • Cap/Hat: While temperatures are lower and the sun isn’t as intense, caps and hats aren’t essential but are very welcome, especially for hiking and adventure outings.
  • Boots and sneakers: Don’t leave out boots or sneakers in your July luggage. Closed shoes are essential for keeping your feet warm in cooler temperatures.
  • Socks: Socks are a must in your bag. Choose thicker socks to keep your feet warm on colder days.
  • Trail shoes: If you’re an adventurer planning to go trekking in the area, don’t forget to bring a pair of sneakers or boots suitable for trails.
  • Activewear: If you’re going to hike or ride a bike, pack comfortable and appropriate clothing for the sport you choose. In July, we recommend bringing leggingsor pants, light tank tops, and a jacket (a windbreaker would be ideal).
  • Swimwear: If you plan to visit the Caucheta Hot Springs, include at least one swimsuit in your travel bag.
  • Coat: One or more jackets capable of withstanding intense cold are essential for those traveling to Mendoza in July.
  • Clothing for snow and extreme cold: If you plan to engage in snow sports, don’t forget the appropriate attire. However, if you don’t own such clothing, don’t worry—many stores in Potrerillos offer rentals of these equipment and garments.

In addition to the items mentioned, don’t forget the necessary documents to enter Argentina.

When traveling to Mendoza, don’t forget to subscribe to a VPN (Virtual Private Network). It’s essential for our trips, as it secures connections on Wi-Fi networks and allows access to any website or app from other countries. We’ve encountered issues accessing bank apps while abroad, and the VPN enabled quick and secure access.

7. What to expect in Mendoza in July?

A joyful woman sitting on a snowy slope in Mendoza, Argentina, wearing a colorful winter jacket, sunglasses, and a beige knit hat. She smiles broadly at the camera, enjoying the winter activities around her. The background features a bustling scene of other visitors engaging in snow play, with rugged mountains stretching into the distance.

High season in Mendoza

July is the peak season in Mendoza, and the city sees a large influx of both domestic and international tourists. Consequently, Mendoza is crowded, and prices are somewhat higher.

If you plan to visit Mendoza in July, be prepared to find the city bustling, tours frequently crowded, and a lack of availability for lunches and vineyard tours unless you book in advance.

The landscapes of July in Mendoza

In July, the golden autumn leaves are falling from the trees, creating a stunning visual. The trees in General San Martín Park and other cityscapes already have many golden leaves on the ground.

By July, the vineyards of Mendoza are also leafless. Thus, the landscapes you’ll encounter are quite different from those in the summer, when the vineyards are green and full of grapes. Nonetheless, the vineyard landscapes remain beautiful.

For those planning to visit the High Mountain region, it is already covered in snow, and the landscapes there are stunningly beautiful. Meanwhile, the views in San Rafael remain gorgeous, with the blue waters of the Atuel Canyon reflecting the rocks and standing out on clear days.

In July, there are no major events in Mendoza, but you can check the monthly cultural agenda on the Ciudad de Mendoza website. This is a great way to find out about any smaller events, exhibitions, or performances that might be happening during your visit.
